K+M Extravirgin Chocolate Bar

Famed French Laundry Chef Thomas Keller and Tuscan olive oil producer Armando Manni have spent the last five years working together to create an antioxidant-rich chocolate bar. They started by sourcing the finest cocoa beans directly from farmers. Next, the worked with the University of Florence to develop a processing technique to craft a chocolate that maintained the natural antioxidant benefits of the cocoa beans that are typically lost through normal chocolate making methods. They then blended in a small amount of extra-virgin olive oil to add even more heart-healthty antioxidants. The end result was three distinct regional bars—Madagascar, Peru and Ecuador—each with their own flavor profiles ranging from fruity to woodsy. —JB

Titanium Peeler

The peeler is a simple basic tool found in almost every residential and commercial kitchen around the world. Yet, finding a good one; one that does not break easily, one that can be used in either hand, one that actually does a decent job peeling can feel somewhat elusive. New Zealand machinist, engineer and designer Warren Simpson looks to change all this. Simpson has developed a sleek modern peeler made completely from grade 5 titanium. Because the blade is made from titanium (with an optional gold titanium-nitride blade), as opposed to carbon steel or ceramic, it will not rust or break. In fact, Simpson says the blade is around 20% harder than standard blades. Both the blade and the ergonomic handle were designed symmetrically, making it capable to be used in your left or right hand and with either forward or backward movements. As an added bonus there is even a handy built-in potato eyer for removing the “eyes” when peeling potatoes. —JB

Hario Cold-Brew Jug & Pitcher

Brew your next batch of cold-brew in style with Hario’s two latest additions in their Mizudashi (cold-brew method) collection. As simple in design as they are in use, both brewers consist of a removable stainless steel strainer and a 8-cup capacity glass carafe—with the only difference being the pour-spout and integrated handle on the pitcher. To brew, simply fill the stainless steel strainer with your favorite freshly ground beans. Next, slowly pour cold water over the grounds until they are completely submerged and the carafe is full. Then place the unit in the refrigerator and let sit for 8 hours. Once your brew is done, remove the strainer and enjoy. —JB
